What technology is concerning legal practitioners?

Technology is playing an important role in the future of many industries, with the legal sector just another example. As the demand for legal services continues to grow, having the right professionals and technology in place is critical to your business moving forward.

This was the subject of a national study from GlobalX Legal Solutions which polled of over 500 practitioners from the legal, conveyancing, banking, financial and business sectors.

According to the results, electronic conveyancing was the top trend that 56 per cent of legal firms are concerned about. In fact, around one in three practitioners (30 per cent) from mid-to-large tier firms believe that their current system is not up to standard.

GlobalX Legal Solutions revealed the other technology trends affecting Australian firms as cloud-based technology (52 per cent), mobile technology (51 per cent), integration (48 per cent) data security (43 per cent) and business intelligence (20 per cent).

"We're finding the technologies that have the biggest impact are those that are disrupting the norm. These technologies affect the day-to-day operations of legal professionals, require them to put their trust in new systems and to develop new habits," GlobalX Chief Executive Officer Peter Maloney explained in an August 10 media statement.

What does the technology need to do?

The survey offered insight into what technology needs to do to help these firms more efficiently moving forward. According to GlobalX Legal Solutions, this included being faster, paperless, mobile and easy to integrate.

Of course, for technology to work well in legal firms, talented professionals need to be sourced and hired. This is where Ethos can be of assistance. Through our expert consultancy team, we will be able to pinpoint the right technology candidate to ensure integration runs smoothly.
